Compliance requirements, legal discovery, business pressures and security risks have dramatically changed the roles of those who own and manage information within the data center. Previous approaches to retaining, preserving and disposing of information no longer meet today's requirements for reduced operating costs, scalability and increased efficiency. This presentation highlights the new work spearheaded by the SNIA's Data Management Forum to produce reference architecture for long-term digital information retention based on information-lifecycle management best practices and methodologies.
